Our Story
About Us
Hetki means "moment" in Finnish, We founded Hetki with a unique vision: using time-honored craftsmanship, guided by good design principles, to create simple, elegant and long-lasting watches.
We believe in the principle that quality and luxury should be accessible to the many, not the few. Our design, engineering and production processes relentlessly pursue this objective and always will.
Case material
The special chemical composition of the 316L stainless steel makes the material robust and corrosion-resistant. Especially for watches that are worn a lot and can e.g. come into contact with salt or chlorine water, this is an advantage.
316L stainless steel is very robust and therefore a popular material for watch cases. The advantages have also convinced us, which is why we use this stainless steel for the casing of all our HETKI watches, which is also known as surgical steel.
Strap material
Vegetable tanned leather uses natural tannins extracted from plants. It is an artisanal tradition from the Tuscan region in Italy, producing superior quality hides than the more widely used chemical based alternative. Vegetable tanning is eco-friendly, a leather unlike any other.
Glass material
We use the hardest & most desirable watch glass in the business, Genuine Sapphire Crystal. Constructed of crystallized aluminum oxide, Sapphire Crystal Glass rates 9 on the Moh scale, (the scale which measures the relative hardness of materials) just behind diamond which measures 10. We recommend to use a microfiber cloth when cleaning the glass. For best result, just add a little bit of cleaning spray in order to make it spotless.
Movement
Quartz movement watches are battery powered. The high-accuracy quartz movement—Made and hand-assembled in Swiss—drives the hours, minutes and seconds with precision.
Water resistance
Our watches offer 5 ATM water resistance.
5 ATM means that a watch can withstand a pressure of 5 bar or a water column of 50 meters. In practice, this corresponds to the pressure of a flowing water jet when washing hands, showering or bathing. 5 ATM does not mean that a watch is waterproof to a depth of 50 meters, but that it can withstand the pressure of a water column of 50 meters. Because when swimming, the swimming movements can cause pressure peaks that are much higher than 5 bar. Due to these pressure peaks, only watches with the designation 10 ATM or higher are suitable for swimming.
